“You’re giveaway and lovely bloggy infectious presence excites me(thanks lovely Emma:) Ignore any negativity(it’s not real or true:). I’m subscribed to your blog. ”

Aww what a lovely comment Cosmic! YOU are lovely! 10 boxes of Alara Goji Berries and Pineapple muesli will be on their way to you soon! Smile

I have to admit to another food obsession. This one is slightly more normal.

I have it every day for breakfast in some form or another. Every. Single. Day. Don’t believe me?

Yesterday's breakfast: banana oatmeal with dates

Yesterday's afternoon snack: banana oatmeal with blueberries

Monday's breakfast: choco-banana oatmeal

Even my weekend ‘shakin things up’ breakfasts had oats in them!

Sunday's breakfast: chocolate oatmeal pancakes

Saturday's breakfast: Oaty breakfast cake

But this morning, I threw caution to the wind.

A personal challenge: A day without oats.

“To hell with oats!” I cried, and instead, threw cereal into my bowl.

Optimum cinnamon and blueberry cereal with coconut milk and strawberries

Now don’t get me wrong, I love cereal, and this was delicious, but usually have it as a snack. Or at least have oatmeal later in the day. But I was determined. Determined to go just one day without oats, just to see if I could.

I failed. All I could think about all day was oats. So I caved. As soon as I got back home, I made a recipe I’ve had bookmarked since The Dawn Of Time.DSC06036

Averie’s Microwave Banana Oat Cakes. That woman is an absolute genius. I literally have bookmarked almost all of her amazing recipes. And this did not disappoint.

#2 Topped with peanut butter

I’m so glad I gave in to myself. I think it was beneficial to my mental health. And never again will I ever utter or even think the blasphemous words “to hell with oats!”.

Oats, I love you.DSC06050

So tell me, what is one food you don’t think you could go a day without having? For me, that’s obviously oats. And Dates. And dark choccie. So that’s three really, but I’m allowed to cheat! Smile with tongue out

And please share with me a recipe or something that you are dying to make! I had wanted to make those oat cakes for ages, and Averie’s Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Balls are totally calling out to me too! I also came up with a great idea for how to make a killer vegan chocolate torte, so I’ll have to test that out soon, and hopefully it’ll work! Open-mouthed smile

Have a great rest of the week lovelies!

  1. I’m almost out of oats, which is scary considering I buy boxes in bulk meant to serve over 100. I go through them crazy fast!

  2. Thanks for your super sweet words about my recipes!

Glad you like them and have all kinds of them bookmarked! you’re so cute!

And I saw your tweets…I am sooo slow with replying to my twitter, but i saw them 🙂

  3. I’m a big oats fan too. I also could go without my fruit. Lots and lots of fruit. And I’m loving my green smoothies too. Oats, fruit, green smoothies…yum!

  4. Oats = Love! They’re so versatile and can go in so many delicious meals. I could not go a day without carrots, seriously, I munch on them all the time. I don’t know if you’ve heard of or had girl scout cookies in the UK, but I really want to try to recreate the thin mint cookies they sell every year.

  5. I don’t think I could go a whole day without peanut butter! I usually eat it in my oatmeal 🙂
And I want to make Chocolate Covered Katie’s Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Dip. (Longest name for a recipe ever.)
Oh and I am totally making those oat cakes tomorrow. They look too easy not to make.

  6. I am with you! Oats everyday…otherwise I feel like somethings missing! No need to change that 🙂

  7. hahha i LOVE OATS.. at leas you change the form around.. i have porridge every morrning.. but i cannot imagine it without!

  8. For me I think I would be hard pressed to go a day without an apple. I just love the crunchy sweet juicy yumminess! I can totally understand were your coming from with the oats as well – they are delish! Congrats to cosmic!

  9. Emma I’m exactly the same as you! I can’t go a day without oats I eat them every morning, and mostly prepared the same way too I’m surprised I never get sick of it! LOVE ‘EM! =) xox

  10. Congrats to Cosmic!

I think dark chocolate for me. And I *know* I can’t go a day without coffee. Ok, that’s not a food. But I am definitely addicted! Other than that, nut butter is something I occasionally go a day without, just to see if I can.. 😉

  11. I could definitely never go a day without bananas, either in snack form, chopped onto my breakfast or blended in a smoothie/protein shake. Apples do come a close second though. And PB, obviously.

I sometimes want to try to go a day without a certain food too, because sometimes for a skewed reason I resent foods that have a certain hold over me. Not that this is the case for you, but it’s a hangover from the need to have control over food, as opposed to the other way around. And not believing that I ‘deserve’ to have the foods I enjoy, which is even more ridiculous.

Glad you were re-united with your beloved oats in the end 🙂

  12. Congrats to Cosmic!!!
I’m making avocado fudge tonight (if I finally get some cacao powder!)

  13. definitely oats…and dark choc (we are similar)!!
a recipe i am excited to make is sweet and sour tofu – i’m off to do it right now!!

  14. Wow! Can’t actually believe I’ve WON not one but 10 boxes of the stuff(yep, I do love my muesli and let’s not forget the humble, comforting oat; I’m with you there, Emma and fellow oaty enthusiasts:), this is crazy and yet I’m chuffed as 22 is quite a significant number too. Thank-you, Emma who is probably one of the sweetest bloggers ever!!! I don’t think I can live without eating oats, fruit and green leafy veggies(on the later the more you eat the more you’ll crave tis is true:). Just want to add Whole foods in Kensington sell raw UK-sourced oat groats(loose) for 0.99p per kilo(soak overnight, process in a FP with nut butters, cacoa and fruit for a raw porridge / oatmeal) that was the price last year!

Thanks once again, lovely Emma(your name suits you:)!

  15. fruit!!!! a day without fruit is one of the unhappiest of my life!!! and i love avocado but sometimes it takes them so long to get ripe and they are so expensive so I’d say I have to have them once a week to be happy 🙂

  16. Oats oats oats!
Thats all I have to say 🙂

  17. Ah oats – they are my best friend.
I also eat spinach nearly everyday – in salad, in soup, wilted in curries, as a bed for hot food. Amazing green, tasty stuff!

  18. YOU ARE ADORABLE….I am the exact same way!!! I ALWAYS have oats….every single day of my life!! I am so happy we are twitter friends wahoo!!!! LOVE YA!!
